the thing about being alone is that it sends an ambiguous message. it's either the case of you needing some time alone, or you simply have no one to be with.
and sometimes, its because you actually enjoy being alone. you dont like to have people around you. you would rather get lost in your own thoughts, instead of chatting with friends.
you actually enjoy being an anti-social.
